Fabulously Free In SL!

That’s how the site advertises itself, and that’s what it is: a resource for new (under 30 days) SL players. For anything from hats to complete avatars with clothing, and everything in between, it’s not to be missed.

But before you click on any links, it helps to have SL up and running, and your avatar logged in. That’s because each link takes you to a map of SL, and the map in turn has its own link. In theory, at least, clicking on that link should launch SL, but I’ve found on my own computer, it doesn’t always work.

Regardless, if you’re already logged in, the map links should take you right to the store/vendor in question.

I’ve used some of the items from Fabulously Free in the past, and each time I did, I Landmarked each one. Then, if I wanted a new item (like a dress or a hairstyle), I’d go first to one of those sites to look for it. Just my way of thanking the vendor for being so generous when I was first starting out.

Oh, by the way, the site is updated regularly.

A New Mesh Avatar, And It’s Absolutely Free!

Cate 12

Meet Caitlyn Pearsall. She’s kindly agreed to be my model for this entry. What makes her so special is the fact that she’s built with a mesh avatar that didn’t cost anything. Combine that with the fact that all of her clothes were also free, and she’s got a free body, shape, skin, and wardrobe—all without spending a single $L!

You’ll need to log in to the SL Marketplace. Once you’re there, follow this link to bring up your choices, all of which come in boxes that look like these:

Inside the six boxes you’ll find everything you need to create your new look and, with a bit of judicious shopping (try The Free Dove or Le’la Mainstore for freebies), you’ve got a complete new look! Caitlyn wasn’t too impressed with the skin choices, and instead went with the free Gervaise skin from Lara Hurley Skin.

You can also use mesh clothing and accessories designed for other mesh bodies, too. Caitlyn says she’s found that clothing, shoes, etc. designed for the Maitreya Lara body work best.

So there you have it: a completely free mesh body and clothing. As my mother used to say, “Don’t say I never gave you anything.”

Alli&Ali Designs

I have a new sponsor. Well, not exactly a sponsor, but kinda. In exchange for writing reviews of hairstyles, Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore will give me new styles as they come out with them. And Alice Klinger, the proprietor and designer, has found a way to really reduce the sizes of her styles so that they won’t cause as much lag across sims.

As I review each style, I’ll show you front, back, and side views of that particular style, along with any special features. This will be in addition to my normal posts, so they’ll keep coming.

Today we’re featuring bangs. Specifically Miranda Bangs.

These bangs are an add-on, which means they go with any hairstyle. The complete set as pictured above sells for $900. Its permissions are: COPY, MOD, NO TRANS.

If you prefer, you can buy individual color sets for $150. Its permissions are: COPY, MOD, NO TRANS.

Here, I’m modeling Miranda Bangs with the Debby Ponytail, but they truly go with any style.

Finally, if you TP over to the A&A Mainstore, you can grab a free copy in Blond Pink. While you’re there, grab a copy of their free hair bases, which contains over 40 different color tattoos you can use to match just about every hair color A&A sells. They work on both Classic avatars as well as the Maitreya Lara body.

Alice is always posting new styles to add to the 900 existing styles already there, so be sure to drop by frequently.

And, of course, new styles and promos are always reviewed here as well.

And that’s it for today!

Free Hair? !!Firelight!!
